BACKGROUND

  • Needed to migrate off hardware and software which was end of life

SOLUTION

  • Migrated over 50 servers , 200 workspaces, IOL.co.za website and editorial systems from an on premise data centre to AWS into a hybrid cloud deployment model
  • Decommissioned legacy server footprint and deployed over 50 servers into AWS into a hybrid Active Directory enable cloud solution
  • Migrated over 200 legacy Citrix clients to AWS Workspaces
  • Migrated IOL.co.za website eco-system, serving 18 million pages views per month to AWS
  • Migrated all back-end news, editorial and print management systems to AWS
  • Archived 3.8TB of data, consisting of 2.8 million files into S3 for long term storage
  • Implemented robust software development lifecycle practice using AWS
  • Using Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon RDS, Elastic Beanstalk, VPC, Workspaces, Direct Connect and Amazon Cloudfront
